Marie Ann Doughan was born January 28th, 1903, on a farm near Wesley, Iowa, the daughter of John and Anna Loebig. She was united in marriage to Elmer Doughan on June 20, 1922 by Father Dominic Lickteig, cousin of the bride.
Marie and Elmer lived on a farm near Stilson, Iowa and then moved to a farm near Wesley and later moved to a home in Wesley.
Marie enjoyed her family and many friends. She was very active in St. Joseph's Parish, including a membership in the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Her other interest were playing cards, bingo, and decorating her home.
She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Sister Mary K., of Clarion, Iowa; and Audrey Walmsley of Webster City, Iowa; a sister, Mildred Arndorfer of Algona, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Dawn, Ann, Jim, Terri, Jean, Kim, Michelle, and David; and eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Elmer on June 21, 1976; a daughter, Sister Adele, in 1989; a son-in-law, J.D. Walmsley; and a brother, Victor Loebig.
In a question presented to her months before she died about her age of 101, she replied with a smile, "God has been good to me."
