e would form a partnership with his brother Leonard until he retired at age 70. He served on the Board of Directors at the Ackley State Bank for several years. Don loved to golf and was in the men's golf league at the Ackley Country Club and was an active golf member of Highland in Iowa Falls. He enjoyed following football, especially the Packers and the Iowa Hawkeyes as well as watching his grandchildren play. Don and Shirley routinely drove to their beloved condo at Lake of the Ozarks in Osage Beach, MO where he got a kick out of taking his family for a spin on the boat. The couple also loved to dance, and could really cut a rug! They were active members of the Iowa Falls Elks Lodge #1674 and enjoyed many evenings with friends and family there. Don always enjoyed the large family gatherings with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Donald Oelmann is survived by his wife, Shirley Oelmann of Iowa Falls, Iowa; his children, Deanna (Dick) Roelfs of Ackley, Iowa, Jane (Rex) Scatena of Saint Helena, California, Donald Scott (Linda) Oelmann of Waterloo, Iowa, Sinda (Chad) Mulford of Iowa Falls, Iowa and Alana (Les) Meyer of Ackley, Iowa; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Leonard (Marlene) Oelmann of Ackley, Iowa and two sisters, Myrle Lindaman of Iowa Falls, Iowa and Anna Mae Tharp of Peoria, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Darlene Gerdes and a daughter, Sally Blanton.
The house in which Donald lived has a vacant chair. He has reported for higher duty in his eternal home. He has met the Master face to face!
