He was born Tuesday, December 8, 1931 in Winchester; the son of the late Dewey and Elizabeth Tipps Bean. He served his country in the US Army. He also served as county commissioner, city alderman, and served on the Franklin County Industrial Board for many years. He served his community by volunteering at Southern Tennessee Medical Center, the Winchester Little League, the Cub Scouts and was an elder in the Winchester Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was the General Manager for the Winchester City Utilities. Mr. Bean was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Virginia Travis Bean; brother, Frank Benton Bean and sister, Wanda Bean Bennett. Surviving are son, Robert Lynn Bean, Jr. of Winchester, TN, daughters, Jennifer Bean Polleck of Raleigh, NC and Jill Bean Anderson of Alpharetta, GA, brothers, James Marion Bean of Estill Springs, TN and Don Bean of Arlington, VA, sister, Francis Sue Clark of Winchester, TN.; and...[more]

Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Moore-Cortner Chapel with Rev. Dr. Jonathan Clark officiating. Serving as pall bearers are Roger Bean, Ricky Bean, Mark Bennett, Mike Bennett, Bobby Clark and Michael Curl. Interment will be in Lynchburg Cemetery.
