Leon Bernard Dumstorff was born June 16, 1940, in Algona son of Henry and Regina (Schiltz) Dumstorff. He grew up in Bancroft graduating from St. John's Catholic School in 1958. He entered the United States Navy in June, 1958 and discharged in 1961. Leon married Alice Drexler on April 8, 1967 in Searles, Minnesota. They began farming north of Bancroft where he lived his entire life. He raised hogs and was master pork producer of Kossuth County in 1979. Leon started his crop insurance business in 1985. He was also a real estate agent for Farm and Home Services in Algona. Leon had a great love of the land and the outdoors. No one was a stranger to Leon, he loved visiting every one he met. Leon's favorite hobby, as everyone knows, was riding his mules. He made many friendships on the trails from Minnesota to Missouri. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Catholic Order of Foresters; and the Bancroft American Legion. He was also a member of the Minnesota Donkey and Mule Club and the Iowa State Trail Riders. Leon B. t joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Alice; four children, Brenda Cisper and her husband John of Kansas City, MO, Patrick and his wife Natalie of Chicago, IL, Lauri Freking and her husband Steve of West Des Moines, IA, and Lisa Dumstorff of Chicago, IL; and five grandchildren, Ben, Maya and Jack Freking, and Tommy and Emily Cisper. He is also survived by two brothers, Gene and his wife Sandy of Rochester, MN, and Allen of Bancroft; a sister-in-law, Bernadette Dumstorff of Kansas City, MO; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother Edwin.
