Edcouch, Texas - Oscar Cardoza Sr., 95, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, uncle, mentor, and friend to many, was called to eternal rest on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at his home in Edcouch, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Cardoza was born in Brownsville, Texas, on August 25, 1922. He lived a long and blessed life, and his family will forever cherish his wisdom, compassion, laughter and love in their hearts and memories. Oscar is survived by his wife, Genoveva Perez Cardoza; his six children from his first wife - Trine (Fred) Cardoza, Teresa C. (Baudelio) Carrión, Oscar Jr., Homero (Dora), Osvaldo (Alicia), and Oraldo (Yolanda); stepchildren Hugo (Grasiela) Gomez, Cynthia (Ernest) Purnell, Melinda (Pete Jr.) Bazan, and Jose Angel (Teresa) Gomez; 28 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Oscar is preceded in death by his first wife, Concepción; his parents Gabriel and Paulina Cardoza; his brothers, David and Gabriel Cardoza; sisters, Vicenta Padilla and Trinidad Cardoza; one granddaughter; and 2 great-granddaughters.
