William Edward Dodds

William Dodds, age 91, passed away October 7, 2017 at Bethany Life in Story City. Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 21 at Bethany Life Chapel in Story City. Burial will be in the Story City Municipal Cemetery. William E. (Bill) Dodds was born February 11, 1926 to Bernice Allen and Ella Mae (Miller) Dodds in Gilbert, Iowa. Bill graduated from Gilbert High School in 1944. He farmed near Gilbert his entire life. Bill was a member of Gilbert Lutheran Church, the Ames Lions Club, and the Ames Moose Lodge. Bill enjoyed woodworking, and trips to Canada to fish. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Denise (Mark) Tyler; his granddaughters, Amy Tyler and Melanie Tyler; five great-grandchildren; three great great-grandsons; his step-children, Terry (Patti) Taylor and Doug (Geniene) Taylor; five step-grandchildren; his sister, Norma Lande of Webster City; and many other family and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Maxine; his second wife, Francis (Fran); his son, Bruce Dodds; a sister, Marie; and his brother, James Adams Funeral Home in Ames is assisting the family with arrangements.
