Robert H. Schweiger (91) passed away October 8, 2017, after a long and fulfilling life. Bob was born August 31, 1926 on a farm outside Cashton, WI. He was the fourth of five children born to Bernard Schweiger and Catherine Degenhardt. His mother raised the children in Cashton after his father died in 1931, during the Depression. Bob often spoke fondly of hunting small game for food and playing music in the band with his brothers Gordon and Jim. While attending high school, Bob worked part time in the local drugstore. Upon graduation in 1944, he enlisted in the US Navy and was sent to the College of the Pacific and UC-Berkley to train as a pharmacist mate. When the war ended, Bob enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and earned his BS degree in pharmacy in 1950. While a student he worked part-time for the Rennebohm Drug Stores. After graduation Bob went to work for Rennebohm full time and met his future wife, Virginia Lybek, who was working part time behind the lunch counter. They married in 1951 and raised three children while operating their own drug stores in Madison and Sun Prairie from 1959 to 1989.

set of horseshoes, bowled, and traveled the world with family and friends. He never had a negative word for anyone and took all life's turns with a smile and a laugh.

Preceding him in death were his wife of 61 years, Virginia; his parents; brothers, Vernon and Gordon; and his sister, Evelyn. One brother, James, survives him. He is also survived by his children, Deborah (Edward) Reisner, Sandra (James) Edgerly, and Bruce (Carol) Schweiger. Bob leaves seven grandchildren, Megan (John) Koltes, Jessica (Neil) Satterstrom, Eric (Lao) Edgerly and Adam Edgerly, Paul (Jamie) Schweiger, Brad (Shanda) Schweiger and Scott (Liz) Schweiger. Bob also leaves four great grandchildren Wesley Schweiger, Lucas and Micah Edgerly, and Mabel Schweiger, and numerous other relatives and countless friends and business acquaintances. He will be missed by all.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 13, 2017 at ST PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5001 N.  Sherman Avenue. Visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Entombment will be at Highland Memory Gardens.
