Luella Lenz

Interment: LuVerne Cemetery ~ LuVerne, Iowa Luella Hanna Lenz was born May 17, 1921, in Manson, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Emma (Zehms) Oberhelman. They later moved to Corwith, Iowa, where she attended school and in 1939, graduated from Corwith High School. After her schooling she stayed at home to work. On September 28, 1941, Luella was united in marriage to Roland Lenz in LuVerne, Iowa, during a double wedding ceremony with her twin sister and her husband. After their marriage they lived and farmed northwest of LuVerne. They retired from farming in 1986, but continued to live on the farm until moving to Algona in 1991. Luella enjoyed watching birds, playing cards, cooking, gardening and flowers. She was a member of First Lutheran Church. Luella died Friday, May 18, 2007, at the Algona Manor Care Center in Algona, Iowa. She was 86. She is survived by her sons, Warren and Deb Lenz of Buffalo, Center, Iowa; Paul and Sue Lenz of Sutherland, Iowa; David Lenz of Algona, Iowa; Mark and Peggy Lenz of Whittemore, Iowa; 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
