Shirley V. Bahl, 82, of Dubuque, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017, surrounded by family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 16, at Church of the Resurrection. Fr. Andrew Marr will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, October 15, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3860 Asbury Rd., Dubuque.
Shirley was born January 18, 1935 in Dubuque, the daughter of Ralph and Margaret (Kintzle) Dupont. She graduated from St. Joseph's Academy, and married Charles Bahl on November 26, 1955 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Shirley was employed at Sundown Mountain for over 20 years.
Shirley loved to play Bingo with her sister in law, Susan, and take trips to the casino with her best friend, Bev. She was an excellent cook, and her grandchildren loved her homemade dill pickles. Shirley was also an avid Cubs fan. She was the guiding force that ensured the family was always together for the holidays and had a delicious meal. She also looked forward to summer vacations at Eagle Lake with family and friends.
irley is survived by her husband, Charles; three children, Nancy (Frank Boffeli) Koch, Kevin (Jody Dirks) Bahl, and Scott Bahl (former wife Sarah), all of Dubuque; a daughter in law, Kathy Miller Bahl; her grandchildren, Quinn, Adam, Wade, Sondra, Bryce, Adam, Ethan, Joseph, Hannah, Jackson, Elayna, and Meredith; 6 great grandchildren; a brother, Donald Dupont of Dubuque; a sister, Patricia Lange of Rockford, IL; three sisters in law, Betty Allen, Nita Betts, and Mary O'Hea, all of Dubuque; and two brothers in law, Joseph (Susan) Bahl of Dubuque, Tom (Wendy) Bahl of Cascade and Verne Wilson of Dubuque.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son Douglas Bahl; her daughter, Jean Kliebenstein-Koren and Steven Koren; her sister, Betty (Jack) Dale; and her in-laws, Edward Lange, Janet Dupont, Robert Allen, Robert Betts, Del O'Hea, and Susan Wilson.
