Joseph B. Hambley, 78 of Lorain passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2017 in Avon Oaks Caring Community following a lengthy illness.
He was born November 23, 1938 in Lorain to William and Isabel (née Hartsel) Hambley.
He was a career U. S. Army veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He received a Purple Heart. He left the military as a Sargent First Class 1998 He served for 27 years. He worked as contractor in Oman, Qatar and Kuwait. He also worked as an air traffic controller in the Marshall Islands. He enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling, his pets and classic country music. He had a private pilots license. He was a member of the V. F. W., American Legion and Retired US Military Personnel Association.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 29 years Rosemarie (née Bulyag) Hambley of Lorain; daughters Jo Ann Hambley of Sacremento, Califonia Joana (Justineal) Biteng of El Paso, Texas and Regine Hambley of Angeles City, Philippines; sons Gary Hambley of Hardee, Arkansas and Rogenel Hambley, Joseph Christian both of Angeles City, Philippines; grandchildren Kaegan Rha...[more]

Other than his parents Joe was preceded in death sister Joan and other siblings.
His family will receive friends Monday, October 16 from 5 to 9 PM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain. Military honors by AMVETS Post 32, Elyria are scheduled for Monday evening at 6 PM. His cremated remains will be buried in Philippines.
