Ann K. Conlon, 94 of Loveland, passed away October 12, 2017 at Good Samaritan Village in Loveland. Ann was born in Jefferson City, Mo. on December 18, 1922 to Joseph and Josephine Kremer. She was a remarkable person of dignity, grace and compassion. Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, William F. Conlon. They lived in Missouri, Japan and California before moving to Loveland in 1956 where they raised their three children Bill Jr., Tom and JoAnn. Ann began her work life as an employee of the Missouri State Government in Jefferson City. Her brother Paul was a Warrant Officer in the Army and stationed there as a recruiter after WWII. Upon leaving Europe, Bill Sr. was also assigned as a recruiter and eventually stationed in the Jefferson City office. It was there, through her brother Paul, that Ann met "Bill." They married soon after in Jefferson City. Because her father Joseph was active in politics, the wedding was quite an affair. Shortly after being married, Bill received orders for Japan. Ann insisted on going along and was there when he received further orders for Korea. With few visits from Bill, Ann raised Bill Jr. and waited for t...[more]
conflict to end. At the end of the Korean War, after four years of living in Japan, Bill was assigned to Oakland, Calif. Upon retiring from military life, they moved to Loveland in 1956, which they deemed "a good place to raise a family." After a few years in Loveland, Ann began working for McKeown Construction and then Wagner Construction. Ann was the matriarch of the family with a huge and beautiful heart. She was an avid reader and card player, valued higher education and loved the mountains. Having both fun and competitive streaks, Ann started an annual "bunny war" every Easter with friends and neighbors John and Dorothy Rust. With front lawns decorated lavishly for Easter, the friendly competition turned into a tradition covered by The Reporter Herald and enjoyed by all. Ann was an active member of St. John's Catholic Church. She started the church's bridge club, which is still active today. Both Ann and Bill shared their happiest moments together with family. They built a home with equal parts love and laughter. While the family mourns her passing, there are many loving and happy moments they carry forward. She is survived by William (and Jan) Conlon Jr., Edmond, Okla.; Tom Conlon, Longmont, Colo.; JoAnn Conlon, Loveland, Colo.; four grandchildren: Julie Bertolino, Dallas, Texas; Alicia (and Eric) Olson, Littleton, Colo.; Shean (and Anna) Conlon, Ann Arbor, Mich.; Katherine Conlon, Honolulu, Hawaii; and seven great-grandchildren. Ann is preceded in death by an infant sister and brothers Paul and Joe Kremer. Visitation will be at Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home, Wednesday, October 18, 2017 from 4 - 6:00 p.m. followed by a Vigil Service at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John's Catholic Church in Loveland on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Loveland Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in c/o Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home, 1102 N. Lincoln Ave., Loveland, Colo. 80537.
