49 graduate of Lyons High School. He later served in United States Army in Korea. He received the Bronze Star. He married Voda Inman on June 7, 1955 in Clinton.
Charlie's life's work was dedicated to the family business at Turner Electric. Taking care of his customers was always his #1 priority. Many times the family holiday meals were interrupted by a phone call stating "our turkey is in the oven and not heating", so it was Charlie to the rescue. Charlie was a genius in many ways such as being the first person ever to install a TV in a car. This made headlines in newspapers across the country. He also invented a way to put lights in the wheels of his motorcycles. He was an engineer in many ways without a degree. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He enjoyed motorcycles, especially giving his grandchildren rides on his trike, anything aviation related, and spending time with friends around the firepit. He loved watching wildlife in his backyard, and was honored to take the Honor Flight in the fall of 2012, calling it "one of the best things I did in my entire life."
Charlie is survived by his wife of 62 years: Voda of Clinton; his children: Terry (Dayna) Turner of Clinton, Beth (Susie Funk) Turner of Clinton, and Aleshia (Ed) Bartles of Clinton, grandchildren: Erin (Justin) Soenksen, Casey (Emily) Turner, Christian Handy, Isaac Handy, Noah Handy, Elijah Neblung, and Gabrial Mosell; step-grandchildren: Jason Halberg and J.D. (Tina) Halberg; great-grandchildren: Cody (Makayla) Allison, Sophie, Stella, and Simon Soenksen. The family would like to extend their love and gratitude to Mary Maddasion.
