Gordon Frank Hilbert

Interment: St. Benedict Catholic Cemetery ~ St. Benedict, Iowa Gordon Frank Hilbert was born December 21, 1931, in Irvington, Iowa, the son of Frank and Frances (Geishecker) Hilbert. At a young age his family moved to the Geishecker family farm near LuVerne. He attended school at St. Joseph Catholic School in St. Joe. After his schooling he began farming. On January 4, 1955, Gordon was united in marriage to Donna Mae Bormann at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in St. Joe, Iowa. After their marriage and for the next 53 years, Gordon enjoyed farming and working with his children and grandchildren instilling in them a strong work-ethic, a love of agriculture, and a love of John Deere green paint. Over the last decade, Gordon and Donna traveled across North America in their motorhome making hundreds of friends along the way. Gordon always enjoyed meeting people, learning about their livelihood, and sharing his love of Iowa and Agriculture with anyone who would sit still long enough to hear it. He is survived by his wife, Donna Mae Hilbert of Corwith, Iowa; children Sandy and husband Tom Davis of Des Moines, Iowa; Dean Hilbert and wife Donna of LuVerne, Iowa; Steve Hilbert and wife Mary of Livermore, Iowa; Mary and husband Jeff Tolke of Eagan, Minnesota; Dan Hilbert and wife Karyn of Corwith, Iowa; Barney Hilbert and wife Rita of Ankeny, Iowa, and 14 grandchildren. Gordon is also survived by his brother, James Hilbert of LuVerne, Iowa, and sister, Catherine and husband Jerry Krischel of Pocahontas, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law, and a brother-in-law, Don Bormann.
