He was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church, Toms River, and served as President of the Holiday City Carefree Homeowner's Association for five years. He was a Carlstadt City Councilman in the 1970's. He was predeceased by his wife, Lorene, in 2013. Surviving are his sons, Anthony L. Trause and his girlfriend Darlene Kish of Manchester, and Jonathan Trause and his wife Meghann of Portland, OR; his brother, Robert Trause of Carlstadt; his uncle, Vito Trause of Washington Township; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Trause will be long remembered by the many students, athletes, and colleagues whose lives he touched during his very distinguished career as a beloved and respected teacher, coach, and official. Cremation was private, and entrusted to Horizon Funeral and Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 West, Toms River. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 10:30am at Christ Episcopal Church, 415 Washington Street, Toms River.
