nd was provided many opportunities and rewarding experiences for her achievements throughout her career. She traveled extensively on behalf of the University for her published research. She was very career oriented, her passion, dedication, and self-driven personality assisted in making her cell biology research recognized both nationally and internationally.
Nancy enjoyed reading, sewing, and do-it-yourself projects. She loved art, animals (especially rescue dogs), and remained very politically involved and active within her community throughout her life.
Nancy is survived by her mother, Mae Galvin of Knoxville; three sisters, Patsy (Dan) Yates of Waterloo, Dixie Juve of Des Moines, and Linda Freshwaters of Knoxville; 12 nieces and nephews; 23 great nieces and nephews; and 15 great-great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Garold Galvin; one brother Gary Galvin; and one brother in law, Danny "Sonny" Uitermark.
Memorials can be made in Nancy's memory to the Knoxville Hospital Foundation or Knoxville Fire and Rescue Department.
