Charles (Charlie) Elliott Parrott, 80, of The Villages, FL went home to be with Jesus on July 26, 2017 in Avon, IN. He was born September 9, 1936 in Bloomington, IN, son of the late John G. Parrott and Annabelle (Elliott) Parrott.
Charlie was a 1954 graduate of Bloomington High School where he had fond memories of his coaches and teachers and how they made a positive influence on his life. He enjoyed participating in sports activities with his brother Joe.
Charlie received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture from the University of Cincinnati in 1960. During his time as a Bearcat, he worked hard at his studies but also enjoyed being part of the track team. He contributed to the team effort through hurdling and broad jump events. He remained a lifelong Bearcats fan.

rs architecture and engineering firm where he worked until his retirement in 2001. Charlie enjoyed working with various statewide education, church and government institutions; contributing to the refurbishing of the Indiana Senate Chambers and the Indiana Convention Center. In 1974, he served as Indianapolis Chapter president of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Many of Charlie’s lifelong friends and retirement buddies were made during his career.
Charlie loved his family and friends, being involved in his church and playing golf. His bright smile was warm and captivating. He loved children and it made him happy to use his famous “duck talk” to bring smiles to the faces of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren but also every child he would meet. His family is very appreciative that Grandpa took time to share the art of fudge and divinity making with his grandchildren.
Retirement brought the opportunity for unlimited golfing for Charlie. He enjoyed these outings with his close friends and wife in The Villages as well as any visitor that would join him. He was a proud three-time hole-in-one achiever.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 45 years, Liz (Hunt) Parrott; his brother Joseph (Janet) Parrott of Bloomington, IN; daughters; Kim (Mike) LaRue of The Colony, TX; Kelli Masselink of Frisco, TX; Karri (Brad) Smith of Little Elm, TX; Karen (Bill) Napier of Brownsburg, IN; Christina (Dustin) Stoner of Beech Grove, IN; and son, Brad Orcutt of Urbana, IL.; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren who he adored, residing in Alabama, Texas and Indiana; one niece and one nephew, 3 great-nephews, 2 great-nieces and one great, great-nephew in the Indianapolis/Bloomington, IN areas.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017; visitation at 1:00 p.m. and service at 2:00 p.m., at Crown Hill Funeral Home - 700 West 38th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208.
A second memorial service will be held in The Villages, FL on Saturday, September 9, 2017. Visit with family at 10:30 a.m., service at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow at New Covenant United Methodist Church, 3470 Woodridge Dr., The Villages, FL 32162.
