Mr. William Carlton Sturdivant, was born on November 20,1944 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He departed his life on Thursday October 5, 2017 at the age of 72.
William was the only son of the late Viola Lucy Sturdivant Stewart.
At an early age baptized and attended St. Rita’s Catholic Church. William began his education at St. Rita’s Catholic School and later graduated from Arsenal Tech High School. William enjoyed sports, he was on the basketball team they won many games and his pictures still dawn the walls at Arsenal Tech High School.
William’s employment journey included Shorty’s Market, Ford Motor Company, MI-Tech Metals, Convention Center, North Capitol Rehab and Indiana Dept of Health from which he retired.
After retiring, William enjoyed life to the fullest, especially in his colt’s blue man cave. He would spend time on his deck watching the cranes enjoying nature with a cold one and a stogie with his loving wife Rita of 30 years and his loyal companion Lola Denise(their Bernese Mountain dog). William is preceded in death by his beloved mother Viola Lucy, former wives Madonna Saunders and Darlena Varnado, sons Anthony and Dominick, son-in-law Rufus Thomas, and his dogs Ruth Ann and Natas Leroy.
William leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Rita, his children Jacqueline, William (Marla), Danas, Jon(Roslind), Jacques, Je’Niece(Donald), Damion(Megan), Cierra, Darius, Kimberly, Jasmine and Jocelyn, 24 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, niece Tamara, great niece Candace, great nephew William and 3 great great nephews Jaelynn, Andre’ and Bishop and a host of other relatives and friends.
