John Lee Taylor was born on May 13, 1959 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Robbie Banks and Wilmon Taylor Jr. John was blessed to have seven siblings.  He received his education in the Indianapolis Public Schools System, attending Harry E. Wood High School.

 

John enlisted in the Army directly out of high school in 1977 where he was a Medical Specialist for 2 years and 9 months of his military career. On July 10, 1980 John received Honorable discharge from the Army. He then went on to start a new chapter in his life.

 

John united in Holy Matrimony to Deborah J. Taylor on September 17, 1983.  The two remained married for 34 years. They enjoyed dinner and movie dates together, cooking, and watching the nightly news. John was a loyal man to his wife, 2 daughters and granddaughter. He would pride himself on putting his family first. John was humble and didn’t require much but to see his family happy and taken care of.

Boy School on March 17, 1986 and then transferred to the Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections (DRC) on October 17, 2005.  

 

John enjoyed cooking and was known for his famous Rice a Roni salad and BBQ ribs. He also enjoyed going to the movies and watching the history channel. He was always ready for good discussion on the world’s current events.

 

John loved his family, especially his one and only granddaughter, Brooklyn. He enjoyed watching cartoons and playing new games with Brooklyn. He also had a special love for his four legged 3lb wife/bodyguard named  “Mya”. When every you saw John you saw Mya.  John was a loving husband, dad, Papa, brother and friend.  He had a calming personality and was greatly loved.

 

John Lee Taylor departed this earthly life on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the age of fifty-seven years seven months and twenty-one days. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in Heaven by his father, Wilmon Taylor Jr. and Mother, Robbie L. Banks; Brother, Rob Taylor.

 

He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Deborah Taylor; daughter, Eric Taylor; stepdaughter, Tosha Draper; granddaughter, Brooklyn Roberts; sisters, Denise Latimore (David), Tonya, Sandy, Cristy; Brothers, Michael Taylor, Randy Taylor; and a host of other extended relatives and friends.
