James was born April 19, 1937 in Davenport to Lester and Mary (Senter) Sievertsen. He proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to JoAnn Hart. They later divorced. He was united in marriage to Marjorie Gradin Voss on May 29, 1982 in Davenport, IA. He worked for forty-five years at Howard Steel.
James enjoyed working in his yard, being outside and woodworking, building birdhouses, squirrel feeders and many other things. Family meant the world to James and he cherished the time he spent helping them with outdoor projects. James always looked forward to the vacations in Florida. He had a serious sweet tooth and was known to hide treats around the house.
Those left honoring his memory include his loving wife of 35 years, Marjorie; children: Joe Sievertsen, Mark (Renae) Sievertsen, Lisa Sievertsen; stepchildren: John (Sharon) Voss, Chris (John) Platt, Beverly (Ray) Grant and Barb (Tim) Long; eighteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and siblings: JoAnn McNamara, Jerry Sievertsen and Judy (Randy) Soedt.
In addition to his parents James was also preceded in death by his sons: Pat and Mike; stepdaughter, Nadine Armstrong and siblings: Mary Thompson, Janet Dorsey and John Sievertsen.
