Harold J. Hoopingarner, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and uncle passed away on September 12, 2017 in Indianapolis. He was born in Brazil, Indiana on September 11, 1934 to the late Ronald Harold and Donita Hoopingarner. Harold is survived by his wife Marion Hoopingarner; children Teresa O’Dowd, Karen (James) Clinard, Curt (Kim Krangnes) Hoopingarner, and Heidi (Diego Urfalian) Hoopingarner; grandchildren Nathan Reed, Tracey Leclerc, Jared Birden, Tatum Hoopingarner, Ivan Krangnes, and Lucas and Mateo Urfalian; Eritrean friend Teklit Guzay; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Patricia Ewing, brother Ronald Hoopingarner, daughter Cindy Hoopingarner, and granddaughter Morgan Reed.
Harold retired from General Motors where he worked as a tool and die foreman for over 30 years. Prior to GM he worked at Pratt and Whitney building Apollo shuttle boosters. He was a member of Tabernacle Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and elder. He was a patient man who loved the Lord, taught his children life long skills, helped others when he could, and shared wisdom through stories. His love, laughter, lessons and story telling will be missed by those that knew him.
Services will be held at Tabernacle Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis on Saturday, September 23 at noon with visitation starting at 10:30am. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
