Hope N. Skinner was May 27, 1923 in Pleasanton, TX, Hope "Bunny" Nelson Skinner hailed from the San Antonio area. She spent the majority of her remarkable life as the consummate Air Force wife and mother of three children. She had the pleasure of traveling the world with her husband, Lt. Col. O.H. Skinner, Jr., and lived in France, Italy and Saudi Arabia, and all corners of the U.S., from Newport Beach, CA to Cape Cod, MA. An active base hospital volunteer, she continued her "Gray Lady" work at Fort Benjamin Harrison after her husband left the Air Force to return to his hometown of Indianapolis and the family business, Thomas & Skinner, Inc. Bunny Skinner was and always will be fondly remembered as the Yellow Rose of Texas. Her love of learning, sense of humor, entertaining storytelling, and passion for baseball made her the best of company. She set a great example for others as a caring woman whose home was always the focus and gathering place of the entire family. Andy Skinner of Indianapolis, IN; Renee Ruprecht of Stevensville, MT; Corinne Parker of Rochester, MN; and O.H. Skinner, III of Cambridge, MA; one great-grandchild, Gianna Ruprecht of Stevensville, MT; and her devoted dachshund, Caleb. A memorial service will be scheduled for the summer of 2009 in the Texas Hill Country. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fisher House (7323 West Highway 90, Suite 107, San Antonio, TX 78227), a home-away-from-home for families of patients at the Air Force Wilford Hall Medical Center.
