Sally Perkins Merriweather-Lisenby was born on January 29th 1925, in Clarksville, TN to the late Bessie Martin and John Henry Merriweather, she was the 4th of 9 children.
Sally was united in holy matrimony to Thomas William Lisenby, who preceded her in death, 9 children were born to this union.
Sally received her education from Montgomery County Public Schools.
Sally accepted Christ at an early age. She joined Greater Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church on August 11, 1968 under the leadership of John W. Short. Sally was a charter member and worked with the nurses board and sisters-of-help ministries. She remained an active and faithful member under the leadership of Dr. Sterling Williams.
Sally was a homemaker and helped raised 5 generations of children. In addition, she was a mother to the whole neighborhood. Her heart and doors were always opened.

and thoroughly enjoyed cooking. Her strongest dishes were; Turkey and Dressing, Fried Chicken, Greens along with Hot Water Cornbread, Fried Cream Style Corn and the list goes on and on. Mommanem would daily send one of her grandkids to the 7-eleven store for an ice cold diet Pepsi. She also loved watching a good western movie, attending church every Sunday was her rock and foundation. Fashion was her passion, never turning down a elegant suit topped off with the sharpest hat in the city, she always stayed impeccably dressed. Sally was very family-oriented, she loved being surrounded by her children and grandchildren, it was no doubt her most favorite time in the world……the laughter was non-stop, she will be missed dearly.
Sally Lisenby departed this life on August 24, 2017 at the age of 92 years, 7 months and 23 days. She is preceded in death by her parents, four sons; George Thomas (Little Brother), Robert Russell, David Lee, Terry Lisenby, daughter Barbara Jean Roberts, brothers; John H, Charles E, Robert L, James D, John Thomas Merriweather, sisters; Elizabeth Waller, Mary Meriwether, Bertha May Merriweather, Myrtis Lee Meriwether-Galbreath.
Sally P. Lisenby leaves to cherish her memories, daughters; Juanita Harris (Tommy), Martha Summers (Robert), Debra Lisenby-Hill (Arnold), Sarah Bembry (Rodney) and Symeon Lisenby,brother Jesse D. Merriweather, sister, Geneva Minor, 22 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, 23 great-great grandchildren, 5 great-great-great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 p.m.,on Friday, September 1, 2017 at Greater Morning Star Baptist Church, located at 519 E. 23rd St, Indianapolis, IN 46205, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. Burial to immediately follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
