Ezell "Zek" Young, son of Thomas and Brooksie Young was born on June 21, 1938, in Holy Springs, Mississippi.
He attended Saint Mary's High School in Mississippi, where he then went on to graduate with honors at Rush College. while in high school he worked at a local store in town for a couple named Mr. and Mrs. Armstead, there he met Maxine Burton. They became friends and eventually went on to marry in 1968 at Saint Mary's Church in the same city.
Maxine moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, with Ezell where he was working as a medical technician at Indiana Universiry Medical Center. Ezell eventually ended his career at the Above and Beyond Limousine Service.
Ezell was know for his amazing sense of humor, ability to find the good in all, and had an infectious smile that could light up an entire room. He enjoyed watching sports, mainly football and basketball, long in-depth conversations with family, and loved ones. Ezell also enjoyed listening to 50's Rock N' Roll, and of course laughing.

Ezell is preceded in death by his parents; Thomas C. and Brooksie Young, siblings; Earlean McNeil, Theordis Young, Odell Young, Yvonne Barnett and Eldridge Young. He is survived by his wife Maxine Young, daughter, LaWanda K. Young, son, Mark (Jennene) Young, grandchildren; Anthony Young, Tyler Young, Mason Young and Jaden Young. Siblings; Donnie (Hazel) Young, Doris (Dan) Shaw, Vernita Jones, Voycell (Steve) Neal, Brenda (Ronnie) Appleton, Joycell (Dennis) Ingram, Blancy Young, sister-in-laws; Lynette Young, Diane Young, brother-in-law, Kenneth and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held 5-7 p.m., on Friday, Sept. 29, 2017at Crown Hill Funeral Home, with funeral services at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, Sept 30, 2017 at St. Rita Catholic Church with one hour visitation prior.
