Bernice Elbert

Interment: St. Michael's Cemetery ~ Whittemore, Iowa Bernice Ann Elbert was born November 7, 1921, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of William and Sophia (Jansen) Stalzer. She moved with her family to Britt, Iowa, where she attended school, graduating from Britt High School in 1943. She later attended Britt Junior College for two years, where she earned her teaching certificate and after her schooling she taught in a one room country school. On July 10, 1947, Bernice was united in marriage to Lawrence Baumgartner. He died November 26, 1950. She was later married to Harold J. Elbert on October 29, 1951, in Wesley, Iowa. After their marriage they lived and farmed near Whittemore where they raised their family. Bernice enjoyed crocheting, knitting, flowers, doing crafts, camping and going to the lake. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters of America, St. Michael's Rosary Society and St. Michael's Parish.
