Joe Douglas Tucker, age 84, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014. Mr. Tucker was the son of the late O.E. and Florence Guerin Tucker. He is preceded in death by two sons John William Tucker and David Lynn Tucker; and siblings James Tucker, Dorothy Tucker, and Johnny Tucker. Mr. Tucker is survived by his wife of 66 years Margaret Clark Tucker; son Joe Wayne (Linda) Tucker of Winchester; daughter Linda Tucker (Lowell) Walker of Winchester; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister Mary Ann (Herman) Acklen; and special caregivers Emily Walker Smith and Sadie Stewart. Mr. Tucker owned Tucker Amoco Service Station on the Cowan Highway in Winchester for 30 years, and drove bus number 29 with Franklin County Schools for 50 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved to spend time on his farm. Mr. Tucker served as a CPL in the U.S. Army during WWII. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Sunday, July 20 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Johnny Ray Bradford will officiate. Burial will follow in the Franklin Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.
