Maryellen Snyder Lowe, age 94 of Belvidere, passed from this life Thursday, June 19, 2014 at her home on Chuwalee Bend Farm. Born and raised in Houston, TX; she was the daughter of the late Alva William Snyder and Bessie Mae Bass Snyder. Mrs. Lowe graduated from Rice University in Houston, where she was a member of the PALS literary society, and was elected queen of the annual Rice University May Fete. Maryellen married Jessup David Lowe, of Ogdensburg, NY, a graduate of the United States Military Academy. in 1943, at the West Point Chapel. During her husband's career with the US Air Force, Mrs. Lowe lived in cities and on military bases throughout the country and overseas. These included Montgomery, AL; Cape Canaveral, FL; Washington, DC; Los Angeles, CA; Paris, France; Tullahoma, TN; and Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA. Upon her husband's retirement from the Air Force, in 1974, Mrs. Lowe moved with him to their new home on their farm outside of Belvidere, where she lived for the remainder of her life. Mrs. Lowe was a devoted member of Christ the King Anglican Church in Winchester, TN. She was preceded in death by husband, Gen. David Lowe; and daughter, Patricia Lowe. Surviving are daughter, Maryellen Lowe Nabulsi; sons, Jessup David (Diane) Lowe, Jr., William Wayne (Diane) Lowe and Wayne Marsh (Debra) Lowe; grandchildren, Laila Nabulsi, Karma Nabulsi, Sammie McNulty, John Lopez, Melanie Lopez, Jessica Litton, Heather Lowe and Tajah Downey; and six great-grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be 9:30 AM Monday, June 23, 2014 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, followed by services at 11:00 AM with Father Bill Midgett officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Lowe's family wishes to express its appreciation for the special care provided by Home Instead Senior Care.
