Helen LaVergne Russell

Helen LaVergne Russell, age 84 of Lynchburg, passed away December 1, 2011 at St. Thomas Hospital. She had worked as a supervisor in sporting goods manufacturing. She loved her family, flowers, and being out on her farm. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jonathan Roscoe Smith and Gracie Maude Preston Smith; husband, S. C. Russell; sisters, Nelda Campbell and Earline Earwood; brothers, Glen, Estill and Walbert Smith; and grandchildren, Angela and Russ Holt. Survivors include daughter, Carol (Will) Holt of Tullahoma; son, Michael (Sharon) Russell of Lynchburg; brother, Tony (Hollis) Smith of Columbia, TN; grandchildren, Matt (Nayer) Russell and Hannah (Noel) White; and great granddaughter, Lydia Beth White. Visitation is 4:30-7 PM Friday at Jennings Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 AM Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Jennings Moore-Cortner Chapel with Bro. Tom Harrison officiating. Serving as pallbearers are, Mike Awalt, Scott Ulm, Ray Rader, Rex Russell, Chad Smith and Allen Smith. Interment at Lynchburg Cemetery.
