Mrs. Eileen Lightfoot Powers, 93, of Burlington, died at 1:15 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2011, at Bickford Cottage. Born March 15, 1917 in Belfast, North Ireland, she was the daughter of Henry and Ellen Gilmore Richmond. On October 3, 1936 she married Charles William Lightfoot in Monmouth, Illinois. He preceded her in death on January 3, 1979. On August 26, 1982 she married Jack Powers in Burlington. He also preceded her in death on August 31, 1992. Mrs. Powers moved to America when she was 10 years old and attended Burlington Schools. She and her husband farmed in Henderson County, Illinois. She was of the Protestant faith. She was a member of Golden Oldies for 26 years, Steamboat Center, Prime Time, Hawkeye Natives, and AARP. For 18 years Mrs. Powers visited shut-ins and patients at Great River Medical Center-Klein Unit and Burlington Care Center. Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth Hays of Oquawka, Illinois; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one daughter-in-law, Naomi Lightfoot of Burlington. l receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. Monday, February 14th, in Lunning Chapel. The procession for Mrs. Powers' graveside funeral service will leave from Lunning Chapel to Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery following the visitation. The Rev. Randall Gearhart will officiate. A memorial has been established for the Golden Oldies
