George Franklin Nelson

George Franklin Nelson age 80, of Huntsville, AL, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 12, 2017 at Huntsville Hospital. On June 8, 1937 the late Joe and Opal Nelson welcomed to the world their son George Nelson. Mr. Nelson enlisted into the United States Air Force and Air Force Reserves where he served for a total of thirty five years, and retired as Commander at the 482 Fighter Wing in Homestead, Florida at the rank of Colonel. In his spare time he enjoyed flying airplanes, golfing and loved spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Nelson is survived by his wife, Patricia Nelson of Huntsville; daughter, Kimberly Nelson of Martinsburg, WV; son, Kris Nelson of Austin, TX; step-sons, Shannon (Stacie) Medley and Steve (Lara) Medley both of Winchester; granddaughters, Ella Bushman, Emily Bushman, Elizabeth Medley, Ella Grace Medley and Kalynn Parsons; grandsons, Colby Medley and Luke Medley; great-grandchildren, Jagger Medley, Camden Medley and Kemper Medley; siblings, Mary Lou Johnson,Betty Harp and Tom Nelson.
