Fr. Verlon Stanley Matthews age 61, of Manchester, passed away June 16, 2017. He was born on June 24, 1955 in Winchester, Tennessee to the late Charlie and Mildred Matthews. He was a veteran in the United States Air Force. Stan graduated from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee with a Bachelors degree in Psychology Education. He received his Masters in Nursing from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee , later received a Bachelors degree from Nashotoh House in Seminary. Stan currently worked for the Alvin C. York VA Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN as a Nurse Practitioner. He was a faithful and devoted Fr. at the Christ Church in Monteagle, Tennessee. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his beloved sister, Marilyn Ocheltree. Stan is survived by his nieces, Tarah Ashley Harper of Winchester, TN and Dana (Greg) Farris of Estill Springs; nephews, Destin (Lisa) Ocheltree of Winchester; 12 great nieces and nephews; special friend, Diedra Duncan of Manchester and 8 four-legged best friends, Angel, Zubu, Artemas, Snowie, Pepe, Bobo, Sierra and Buttercup.
