IA, as a farm wife/mother, she shared her medical acumen and love with many neighbors and any injured farm animal or pet. She was a humble anchor in her community, serving for four decades as a volunteer choir director/organist at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Greeley, Iowa; catechist; family historian; poll worker; volunteer school band supporter; gardener; and a life-long promoter of life and the Natural Law, as evidenced in her works of poetry and prose.
Of all for which Irene Cummings will long be remembered, it will be how well she personified the meaning of her name. Irene means "peace," and that is how she lived her life, as a peace-maker.
