Jim Devine, 77, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017. Jim was born on October 24, 2017 to James and Catherine Devine in New York City, New York. He graduated from St. Mary's Grammar School in Plainfield, New Jersey in 1954 and Holy Trinity High School in 1958 where he played baseball and basketball. In 1960 he won the batting title in the Plainfield Twilight League with a .370 average. Jim played freshman baseball for Seton Hall University and graduated in 1962 with a major in accounting. He earned his certified public accounting certificate in 1969. He worked in New Jersey as a certified public accountant and was the chairman of the Legislation Committee of the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants. Jim also served on the Federal Tax Committee of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He authored an article published by the New Jersey Society of CPAs on the Tax Reform Act of 1986. When he retired, he made San Angelo his home.
