Vera Joyce Patterson

Vera J. Patterson, 83, of Maquoketa, Iowa, and formerly of Delmar, Iowa, died on Friday, February 25, 2011, at her home in Maquoketa, Iowa. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, March 1, 2011, from the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M. on Monday, February 28, 2011, from the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa, Iowa. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Delmar, Iowa. Vera Joyce Higgins was born on January 15, 1928 in Clinton, Michigan, to Claude Freeman and Margaret Betty (Smith) Higgins. She was a 1946 graduate of Onsted, Michigan High School. She married Elmer Eugene Patterson on July 12, 1947 in Findlay, Ohio. He preceded her in death on June 24, 1992. Vera was a homemaker, raising five children. She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved to camp, fish, garden, and can her own vegetables. Her pies were anticipated throughout the family, as well as her homemade beef noodles and chicken noodles.
