Bobby Gene Payne was born on August 26, 1936, in Iberia, Missouri, the son of Rufus and Gertrude (Keeth) Payne. He attended school in Waterloo. On June 23, 1956, Bobby Gene married Hazel Terry. She died in 1994. In 1995, Bobby Gene married Paulette Westphal. The couple made their home in Waterloo. Bobby Gene worked for John Deere in Waterloo for 30 years until his retirement. He was a member of Crossroads Church of the Nazarene and the Local 838 John Deere Union. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and hockey. Bobby Gene died at the age of 81 on Friday, October 27, 2017, at his home in Waterloo. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; three brothers; and a grandchild. Bobby Gene is survived by his wife, Paulette; two sons, Terry and Tracy Payne; a step-daughter, Robin Treichel; a brother, John Payne of Alabama; eleven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
