Elena Gutierrez Gapasin, age 89, passed away October 28, 2017, in Auburn.

She was born in Lubao, Pampanga in the Philippines on December 24, 1927, to the late Catalina Calamarez and Apolonio Gutierrez. She married the late Gerardo Gapasin in 1953 in Manila and raised their two children by herself upon the death of her husband in 1975.

She visited Auburn in 1990 to help daughter Elizabeth care for her newborn twins. She eventually made Auburn her new home to take care of her growing grandsons full time.

Elena will be greatly missed by her family. She is survived by her son Jesus (Teresa Baldueza) and daughter Elizabeth (Richard Urmenita); grandchildren Jay (Thea), Joy, and Joshua Gapasin, and Jericho and Jonathan Urmenita; and three great-grandchildren Jemima, Kezia, and Zoe.

A 9-day novena is being offered nightly at 6 PM at the Holy Family Auburn Chapel until Sunday, Nov. 5th. A viewing will be held at Holy Family Auburn on Nov. 11th at 10 AM followed by a funeral Mass at 11 AM.
