d the Keokuk Fire Department in 1972. He continued to work at the fire department for the next twenty years, until his retirement in 1992. He also started several businesses including Dunagan and Son Sand Blasting and Dunagan Seed and Nut Company. He was a member of the American Legion Post #41 and was also a member of the Lee County Republicans. In 1999 Dan began aggressively fighting for the No Zoning in the county which led him to run and win a seat on the Lee County Board of Supervisors in 2002. Dan was always busy doing something or planning a new project. In 1991, he began to sandblast an old barn in Lima, IL. With the help of McDowell's Crane, Dan dismantled the barn and reassembled the barn frame in rural Keokuk which became his family home. Dan loved sports and played football and ran track. He loved to hunt, fish and mushroom hunt whenever he could. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Pastor Dale Thomas officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Keokuk National Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the family meeting with friends from 6 - 8.
