Linda M. Kern, 75, of Burlington, died at 6:10 AM Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at her home in Burlington.
Born August 12, 1942, in Green Valley, IL, she was the daughter of Henry Willis and Bessie Elizabeth Martin Mount. In 1961, she married Allen "Bud" Shute, they later divorced. On June 17, 1972, she married Donald Gene Kern in Burlington. He later passed on May 18, 2015.
Linda worked at I.A.A.P, Exide Battery and H&R Block for 20 years.
She was a 1960 graduate of Delavan, IL High School. She graduated from High Fashion Beauty School in Peoria, IL.
She attended West Burlington United Methodist Church. She was an avid gardener, painter, and enjoyed reading. She cherished time with her family.
Survivors include one daughter, Stephanie Shute of Burlington; one son, Scott (Lynda) Shute of Rotunda West, FL; one step-son, Wyatt (Mary) Kern of Waterloo; one step-daughter, Kim (Todd) House of Fort Madison; 12 grandchildren, Jarett (Shannon) Walker of Burlington; granddaughter, Jade (Aaron) Lotzow of Burlington; granddaughter, Brandie Livermore of Stronghurst, IL; Erick Hanson of Denver, CO; Brent (Kaleigh) Gall of Port Charlotte, FL; ...[more]

Beside her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Bill Mount, and two grandsons, Ryan Allen and Matt House.
The funeral service for Mrs. Kern will be 10:00 AM Saturday, November 4, 2017, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Aaron Lotzow officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to West Burlington United Methodist Church.
