How Did We Do?

Scott Hutcheson born on September 4, 1969 passed peacefully on November 3, 2017, after battling cancer. Scott fell asleep while listening to Mozart's Piano Sontata No 16, with his sister next to him, and the last words he heard were, "I love you." Scott is survived by his Mother, MJ Kerns, brother Ty Hutcheson, niece, sister Beth Van Fossan, and the many others who were touched by his unrelenting concern for others and desire to spread joy wherever he went. This joy was felt by many, and celebrated by his church family at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, loved ones, neighbors, and friends.

Scott was born in Pensacola Florida, spending his childhood in Greenville, South Carolina and then moved to Lacey Washington, where he graduated from Timberline High School and received his Bachelor of Arts in Literature from Evergreen State College.

Scott enjoyed both the simple and refined things in life: a deep love for the arts, music, paintings, literature, talking about the Clemson Tigers with his Uncle Carroll and Aunt Faith, his morning coffee with his neighborhood coffee shop crew, and travelling to places like Haiti and France.

To his last day, Scott was an example of "love your neighbor as thyself" and always put others before himself, even strangers. Scott was and will always be loved.

A service to celebrate his life will be held:
Sunday November 12th at 11:00 (immediately following morning service)
Sunrise United Methodist Church in Federal Way
150 S 356th St
Federal Way, WA

The Rev. Dr. John R. Van Eenwyk on Mar 26, 2018

Scott was a kind, gentle man whom we all loved very much. He was also a man of great courage, especially in the face of his illness. He was a devout member of St. Joh's Episcopal Church in Olympia, where we were blessed to be able to share his wit, dedication and affection. We shall all miss him and will keep him in our prayers.

CandleWe were blessed to be able to share time with Scott, and privileged to be his friend. He was an upstanding man with a big heart and quit wit. He was quite a lovable character and will be missed by so many. We wish his family and friends comfort, peace and thanksgiving for the time together and many happy memories. With sincere condolences, Mark Medlin & William Bradshaw

To the family of Scott, please know what a wonderful friend he was to so many people. We are sad that he was called at such a young age, but thankful to have been included as his friends, and to have received much wisdom from him. We have been richly blessed by his presence in our lives. With our love and deepest condolences, Linda & Jack Butcher
