ng his private law practice. In 1971, he opened his own practice, which eventually became Diez and Floyd, P.A. in 1998, where he practiced until his retirement in 2015. Charlie was active in the community, having been a charter member of the Englewood Elks and Rotary, and president of the South County Bar Association. He took great delight in providing pro bono legal services to countless individuals, as well as to numerous charitable and non-profit local organizations over the 51 years he practiced law in Englewood. He was an avid fisherman, woodworker, gardener, and pilot, and was an excellent golfer. Above all, he found his greatest enjoyment in spending time with his family and his beloved pets. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Phillip. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Ellen, his sons Nick (Susan) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Michael (Donna) of Englewood, and his daughters Patricia (David) Reaves of Venice and Mary Ann (Chuck) Floyd of Englewood. He is also survived by five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a brother, Richard (Cecille) of Kissimmee, a sister, Rosemary Green of Lutz, and five nieces. Visitation will be held at the Lemon Bay Funeral Home in Englewood on Saturday November 11, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. A mass will be held at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Englewood on Tuesday November 14, 2017, at 10:00 a.m., with burial to follow at Gulf Pines Memorial Park.
