51 during the Korean Conflict, and was stationed at the Naval Base in San Diego, Calif. He and his family returned to Fort Worth and resumed his practice at the Terrell Clinic. After leaving the Terrell Clinic in 1969, he and his long-time partner, Dr. Emory Davenport, established their own medical practice partnership. Art served on the All Saints Hospital Board of Directors for 27 years, as well as being the Chief of Medicine and Chief of Staff. He was a volunteer on the teaching staff at John Peter Smith Hospital for 10 plus years. In 1981, the practice grew when Art's son, Brian, and Dr. Davenport's son, Alan, along with Tony Carlton, joined the practice. He was recognized with numerous awards, but the one he was most proud of was to be recognized with the Truman C. Terrell Award in 2001.In 1947, Art met and married Gloria Culwell. They had three children and were married for 42 years until Gloria's death in 1989 and was preceded in death by his son, Brian Rutledge, MD.
Survivors: Two daughters, Jule Jennings (Michael) and Libby Scoggins (Don); daughter -in-law, Val Rutledge; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
