he Year award in 2005 at the state convention held in Houston. She was employed by John Peter Smith Hospital and the UNT Health Science Center for 40 years and was a retired diabetes management specialist at the time of her death. She was an elder at the Westside Presbyterian Church on Chapin Road in Fort Worth.
Survivors: First husband, who became her primary care giver during her last illness; her brother, Dea Richard Bruce of Tomball; sister, Anita Maureen Green of Godley; four sons, Bruce Dennis Fowler and wife, Helene, of Godley, Daryl L. Fowler and wife, Lisa, of Yoakum, Danny G. Fowler and Selinda Howard of Benbrook; and Rob Orr and wife, Pam, of Burleson; eleven grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. "Miss Orr" also leaves behind a host of peers in the medical profession across Texas, and her JPS and UNT-Health Science Center co-workers and friends who have valued her leadership and friendship over the years. The most difficult decision she ever had to make was to retire from her practice which meant missing the opportunity to treat the hundreds of patients in the Sylvania and Diamond Hill neighborhoods of Fort Worth who depended upon her thoughtful caregiving and treatment of their chronic illnesses. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Shelley Orr.
