tending swap meets, most of all his annual trip to Hershey, Pennsylvania every October for the past 42 years. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed many birthdays, graduations, sporting events, and dance recitals of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He also loved his other "family": regularly having coffee with his friends at various diners and auto shops in the Clinton area over the decades. Don loved telling stories (many of which were tall tales based loosely on facts), cracking jokes, and sharing his many sayings and one-liners.
Don is survived by five children: Christine (Brady) Gruhn of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Valerie (Scott) Kelley of Clinton, Donald (Jaime) Humes III, of DeWitt, Iowa, Nathan (Breanne) Humes of Middleton, Idaho, and Adam (Laura) Humes of Grimes, Iowa; 13 grandchildren: Alison Kelley, Erica (James) Nelson, Aubriana Kelley, Emma Gruhn, Elliana Gruhn, Grayden Humes, Bennett
Humes, Jax Humes, Braelyn Humes, Madden Humes, Mason Humes, Charlotte Humes, and William Humes; two great-granddaughters: Sophia & Violet Nelson; his brother: Larry (Sandy) Good of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, and his sister: Judy Reiners of Beaver, Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
