De Etta Alice Lietsch Senn, 97, of West Burlington, died at 5:20 PM Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at the Great River Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born June 17, 1920, in West Burlington, she was the daughter of Clarence Philip and Mildred Helen DeWitt Lietsch. On March 2, 1943, she married Edward Charles Senn in St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Burlington. He died December 23, 2007.
De Etta graduated from St. Paul's Central High School in 1938. She graduated from Ottumwa Heights College in 1940. She taught at Central Catholic High School in Ottumwa, was a secretary at Benner Tea Co. and was a Homemaker.
She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, SS. John and Paul Catholic Church. She took care of the altars and vestments at St Patrick's Catholic Church for many years, belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society, Parish Council and was a member of the Legion of Mary. She loved reading, quilting, music, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, playing bingo, and her family.
Survivors include three sons, Richard "Dick" (Sandy) Senn of Austin, TX, Thomas "Tom" Senn of Coralville, and Alan Senn of Burlington; five daughters, Kathie Erickso...[more]
of Burlington, Marcia (Lonnie) Green of Lindale, TX, Susan (Dennis) Moss of Burlington, Mary Lee (Larry) Matteson of Burlington, Ruth Ann (Rick) Martin of Bonita Springs, FL, 15 grandchildren, Scott Erickson, Bob Erickson, David Green, Gina Green Dickerson, Brad Moss, Angie Moss Hill, Melissa Lueth, Taylor Matteson, Bryan Senn, Tracy Senn, Jennifer Senn Drum, Amanda Martin, Ryan Martin, Andrew Senn, and Isaak Senn; 24 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marilyn Lewis Anderson of Burlington; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son Michael Senn, her parents; three sisters, Doris Wiele, Betty Karle, Joanne Rodgers, and one brother, Jon Lietsch.
No formal visitation is planned however friends may call from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home.
The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Senn will be 10:00 AM Monday, November 20, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Fr. Marty Goetz as the Celebrant. A time of food and fellowship will be held in St. John's Cafeteria following the service. Graveside committal services will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, West Burlington at 1:30 PM.
Memorials have been established for the Burlington Notre Dame Foundation, Autism Society of America and University of Iowa Mental Health.
