Jeanette was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She loved babies and animals. She loved singing, dancing, whistling, going to musicals, playing Euchre and Rummy and doing crossword puzzles. She also loved traveling and going on vacations with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren - especially to Disney World.
She will be remembered for her everlasting and intense love of her husband, Dave, endless love of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; her gifts of Avon for birthdays and Christmas for over three decades and her dedication to prepare and provide Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners for family and friends for decades.
She was a 50 year member of Holy Ghost, was active with the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, and volunteered in the Dubuque community, including at the Carnegie-Stout Library for over 10 years.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, David Elgin of Dubuque; three sons, David Joseph (Mary) Elgin of Cedar Rapids, Dr. Drew Michael (Tina) Elgin of Mequon, WI, and Dennis Thomas (Roma) Elgin of Seal Beach, CA; five daughters, Denice Louise (Kevin) Rhomberg of Mentor, OH, Doreen Esther (Jeff) Barta of Cedar Rapids, Denette May Kellogg of Dubuque, Darla Agnes (Gregory Maisel) Elgin of Woodbury, MN and Darcy Rose (Randy) Jones of Woodbury, MN.
She is also survived by (23) grandchildren, (32) great grandchildren, and two brothers, LeRoy Nelson of Dubuque and Thomas Nelson of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Diane DeMaio and her sister, Darlene Allendorf.
