David Paul Elrod, age 56 of Prairie City died from complications of pneumonia on Thursday February 24, 2011, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 28, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City, with burial following at Silent City Cemetery in Monroe. Visitation will be held on Sunday from noon until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The son of David M. and Marilyn Ruth (Telfer) Elrod, D. Paul was born on January 22, 1955, in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Prairie City High School in 1973 and attended Kirkwood Community College. A lifelong resident of the area, D. Paul was raised in the Methodist Church. He worked for many years at Vermeer in Pella. D. Paul loved spending time and helping out with his many nieces and nephews. He also enjoyed attending flea markets.
