Mr. Robert Louis Zettell, age 81, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017. He was born in Pontiac, Michigan on October 2, 1936 to Frank & Hazel (Foster) Zettell and served his country as a Captain in the US Army during the Vietnam War Era. He married the former Ann Dunnigan on May 23, 1959 in Royal Oak. Mr. Zettell received his Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Detroit, and he was a dedicated municipal engineer during his entire professional career. He spent his first ten years working for various Southern California municipalities including Los Angeles County, the City of Fontana, and the City of Palos Verdes Estates where he was City Engineer. After moving to Muskegon in 1975, he served as the Muskegon County Public Works Director for nearly 30 years until retiring. One of his most enduring achievements for the County of Muskegon was overseeing the multi-year development of Heritage Landing. Robert was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and enjoyed Civil War history, collecting artifacts, hunting and all his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann in 2010, his parents, his sisters Elaine and Gerry, and his brother Bud.
