Irvin Boyer

Irvin A. Boyer, 86, of Warsaw, Illinois, died Monday, June 24, 2002 at 7:58 P.M. at Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, Iowa. Irvin Boyer was born on October 2, 1915 in Farmington, Iowa. He was the son of Adam Emery and Lillian Rupp Boyer. He married Elsie Phillips on January 3, 1959 in Davenport, Iowa. She survives. He lived in the Keokuk area for most of his life until twenty-four years ago when he moved to Warsaw, Illinois. He served in the United States Army during World War II. As a young man, he was a member of the Citizen Military Training Camp and spent one month every summer at Fort Des Moines, Iowa. He was self-employed as an antique dealer and loved antiques, especially clocks and pocket watches. He was a member of the Warsaw VFW Post #09802 and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Elsie Boyer of Warsaw, Illinois; a son, Reggie Boyer and his wife, Sherri, of Alpine, California; two daughters, Sharon Kraus of Warsaw, Illinois and Janet Edlen of Hamilton, Illinois; five grandchildren, Derrick, Dustin, and Emily Anne Kraus of Warsaw, Illinois and Jessica and Joseph Edlen of Hamilton, Illinois; three step-grandchildren, Todd, Troy, and Kelly Rodv...[more]

George; one half-sister; one half-brother; and his foster mother, Nannie Smith, who raised him during his junior and senior high school years. Services were Friday, June 28, 2002 at DeJong's Funeral Home in Keokuk with Reverend Terry Lovell officiating. Burial waw in Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw, Illinois with full military rites. Memorials may be made to the Warsaw Ambulance Fund, the Crossview Community Youth Center, or to the donor's choice.
