Bernice Ruark

Bernice Ruark, 89 of Keokuk, died at 4:20 AM Saturday, September 14, 2002 at Keokuk Area Hospital. Bernice Ruark was born on July 7, 1913 in Blandinsville, Illinois. She was the daughter of Fred Mills and Lenna Ray Mills Bellowes. She married Forrest M. "Dick" Ruark on July 31, 1932 in Macomb, Illinois. He preceded her in death on June 1, 1983. She had been employed at Barton's Music Store in her younger years and was the executive secretary to the administrator of Graham Hospital until her retirement in 1975. She was a lifelong resident of Keokuk and was a member of the First Lutheran Church. She loved to travel and play bingo. Survivors include three sons, Michael Ruark and his wife, Sherry, of Hamilton, Illinois, Tony Ruark and his wife, Connie, of Wichita, Kansas and Jack Ruark of Columbia, Illinois; one daughter, Joy Hasper and her husband, Charles, of Montrose, Iowa; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and an infant son, Gary Lee. Funeral services were held Monday, September 16, 2002 at DeJong's Funeral Home with Pastor Don Rothweiler officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park. [more]
