Jack Edward Eckland, 64, of Keokuk, died Tuesday, October 1, 2002 at 5:00 A.M. at his residence. Jack Eckland was born on January 11, 1938 in Keokuk, the son of Edward and Ruby Lovell Eckland. He married Wanda Moore on November 14, 1957. He later married Brenda Buford on October 23, 1965 in Kahoka, Missouri. She survives. He was employed as a chemist and lab manager for Shellor Globe & Sears Manufacturing in the Iowa City-Davenport area for twenty years. He moved back in Keokuk in December 2001. He was a member of the First United Church in West Liberty, Iowa, was the past president of the West Liberty Rotary Club, and was past president of the West Liberty Jaycee's. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Eckland, of Keokuk, Iowa; four children, Dean Eckland and wife, Kasey, of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Kip Standley of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Brian Eckland and wife, Sara, of Davenport, Iowa, and Lance Eckland and wife, Mishell of Iowa City, Iowa, ten grandchildren, Chad Eckland, Allyson Standley, Elizabeth Eckland, Megan Eckland, Hope Eckland, Paige Eckland, Jenna Eckland, Chase Eckland, Grace Eckland, and Brandon Eckland; two sisters, Barbara Prunty of San Diego, California and Bet...[more]

Eckland of Stone Mountain, Georgia; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services were Friday, October 4, 2002 at DeJong's Funeral Home in Keokuk with Reverend Leon Buford officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
