Patsy "Pat" Stark Best, 68, of Keokuk, Iowa, died Sunday, January 19, 2003 at 10:31 A.M. at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa. Patsy Best was born on December 7, 1934 in Centertown, Kentucky. She was the daughter of John and Lily Davis Stark. She married Charles Best on June 17, 1963 in Keokuk. He survives. She had lived in Keokuk for the past fifty-two years and was a homemaker. She enjoyed fishing, camping, cooking, and taking care of her grandchildren. She loved to play cards and staying up late to watch television. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her husband, Charles "Lonnie" Best, of Keokuk, Iowa; one daughter, Audrey Burgess, of Keokuk, Iowa; five sons, Daniel Stark and his wife, Kathy, of Keokuk, Gregory "Buzz" Stark and his wife, Sheila, of Keokuk, Terry Best and his wife, Brenda, of Keokuk, Charles "Lonnie Jr." Best of Keokuk, and Dennis Best of Keokuk; nine brothers and sisters, John "Buster" Stark of Keokuk, Betty Lou Knight of Elvaston, Illinois, Francis Stark of Winona, Minnesota, Norma Steffensmeier of Keokuk, Perry Vermeesch of Keokuk, Earl Vermeesch of Keokuk, Gale Barrones of Bonaparte, Iowa, Zenia Vermeesch of Keokuk, ...[more]

Mary Burdess of Redfield, Arkansas; sixteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather; three sisters; and one brother. Services were Friday, January 24, 2003 at DeJong's Funeral Home in Keokuk with Reverend William Mitchell officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk. Memorials may be made to the family.
